Another Informational Text Article: A Visit to the Apple Orchard!

Happy Sunday!

Early this morning I finished an informational text article for students entitled a visit to the apple orchard. I think your students will enjoy this fall favorite! Happy Friday! Mini Posters for Making Connections to Text!

Happy Friday Ya'll!

I hope every one has great plans for the weekend! I took a few minutes and made a few mini-posters for English/Language Arts teachers to use in helping students understand how to make connections with the text they are reading-- I hope you have a great weekend look for more things to come this weekend!

This is a packet of three mini posters. These posters can serve as aids for encouraging students to make connections to the world, to the text itself, and to themselves while reading; henceforth, text-to-world connections, text-to-text connections, and text-to-self connections. These mini-posters are a perfect fit above a whiteboard to make reference too as the class is reading or working on an assignment with literature and informational text!

Elements of Literature... Happy Wednesday!

Good Evening All,

Gosh! It has been busy... remember I work at a Tribal School... and this week is American Indian Week and wow have we been busy! In the midst of the excitement, I created these "Elements of Literature" min-posters! It is sure to fit right above your whiteboard and will serve as a great set of references when responding to literature!

This packet contains a set of nine mini-posters which display each element of literature. Elements include: plot, setting, theme, characterization, conflict, mood, style, tone, and point of view. So, while Alan sat on pins and needles watching Mississippi State play LSU Tigers... I was looking at a magazine and was reminded of an old fall past time-- that of apple bobbing! The young and old alike have a great time doing this! I decided to write an informative article that you might use in your classroom!

Strategies for Math Mini-Posters... TGIF!

Good Evening All,

While Drew practiced football, I worked on this set of mini-posters for math strategies. They are a perfect fit above your white board and can be referred too quite easily! 

This is a set of ten mini-posters with a math strategy for students to use as they employ the “Standards for Mathematical Practice” on each poster. These posters are perfect to place in a math classroom above the white board for easy reference. When students are stuck on a step in a math computational problem as well as a word problem, they can utilize these mini-posters with the strategies on bright colored paper for easy reference! Homework and Study Shortcut Strategies Training Slides...

Good Evening All,

I worked tonight on a quick powerpoint that you might use in several different ways... with students, other teachers, and parents... these strategies are proven to help win the homework war... especially with ADHD students...

This is a powerpoint for training and instructional purposes. You will find fourteen slides. Ten of these slides explain homework and study shortcuts that have been proven to be beneficial to upper elementary, middle school, high school, and college students. As well, these strategies have been found to be very helpful with students and adults diagnosed with ADHD. These slides can be used in a focused faculty session, professional development session, or a professional learning community session in working to develop these strategies among teachers to teach students. As well, these slides can be used in working to equip students with these strategies. Finally, these slides can be used in a "Parent University" atmosphere to provide parents with training on the strategies as well.

In the wake of the 9/11 anniversary, I wrote an informational text article in regards to Flight 93-- the flight where the passengers decided... enough is enough! They took over the plane and brought it down in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania! Your students will engage with this text from the first word!

More Informational Text: Old Abandoned "River Country Water Park" in Disney

I really got busy today... enjoy... sleep well and good night!

Your students are definitely sure to enjoy this informational text in regards to Disney's first water park, "River Country." Rules of the Rug! ... I Believe This is All We Really Need to Know!

Good Evening to All!

Drew had football practice this evening at 6:30 so I decided to take my computer with me and see what I might could accomplish... so about an hour later... I came up with a packet of mini-posters which help to reinforce the rules of the rug... you know the real rules that we really need to live by throughout life! Things like face forward, criss cross applesauce, etc. of course as I type this, I am thinking of a few more that I might need to add to the packet! Nevertheless, I hope these may help some of you in establishing rules and procedures for "the rug!"

Sunday Night... Again... The Weekends Go Too Fast!

Good Evening All,

I am most excited about what I have created today... I hope it serves to help many teachers. As we all know there is much more emphasis on informational text than ever before. Not too long ago, I was scanning through Facebook and began to see these most interesting photos of the abandoned Six Flags Amusement Park in New Orleans. It has never re-opened since August 21, 2005. The pictures are absolutely breathtaking! When you see a few of them, I think that you will agree! Nevertheless, I wrote a short article (478 words) about the abandoned park and added a five question quiz!

I hope you all love it! Give me feedback to make improvements! I hope this is the first of many short articles that will engage a room full of readers!

This is an informative article written about the abandoned Six Flags Amusement Park in New Orleans who closed its door on August 21, 2005, and was scheduled to reopen the following weekend on August 27th. With the forecast, the park braced for the storm and everyone evacuated. It has never re-opened. The article is 478 words long, has three photos with captions, and a five question quiz. The quiz has three multiple choice questions and two open ended questions which ask the reader to create a timeline as well as write a five to seven sentence paragraph. This text is sure to engage a room full of readers!

We Are Almost There! TGIF

Good Evening,

Well, the end of another school draws near. I can't help but say, "whew!" Am I the only one who thinks when we have an extra day off for Labor Day that somehow we pay for it the rest if the week? Tonight, after Drew's football game, and homework... I continue to notice that he ALWAYS gets on Minecraft-- the latest craze with youngsters his age-- so, I quickly designed some cool bookmarks for you all to use with your students.

Happy Labor Day!

I hope everyone is having a great Labor Day! We are about to fry shrimp, boil shrimp, and grill shrimp! I guess you could say we are having shrimp! The pool is ready and gosh it is hot! While my little man is asleep (Jace bug that is...) I decided to finish a small project... some classroom chore cards for a pocket chart for your classroom!
