Another Classroom management Tool for Transitions!

Product Description:

When elementary students learn to follow directions, it begins a complimentary compliance with requests that improves their relationships with everyone! Young students sometimes have difficulty transitioning from one activity to another, especially students on the autism spectrum. Many times transitions causes anxiety or students just seem to be stuck and not be able to transition to the next task well. Because transitions can be difficult, use this packet of materials to help teach students how to transition effectively. This packet allows students to follow adults’ directions without whining, arguing, and/or complaining. In this packet is a set of visual, nonverbal signal cards that can serve as transition signals. These cards are very nonthreatening, non-obtrusive individualized approach to transitioning. A teacher can simply place a card on a student’s desk and walk away. Reinforcement Menus for Response to Intervention!

This has been a great weekend to sit back and relax not to mention the excitement with all the SEC football! WOW is an understatement. Well, it one of my favorite times of the year ~~ FALL... and I can't help but think of scarecrows in the fall. I had never really investigated the origin of scarecrows but wow what an interesting history. I know that your students will be thoroughly engaged in the following product:

Product Description:
This is an awesome informational text article on the history of scarecrows and all of the different versions of scarecrows throughout the world. The informational text article is approximately 1,000 words long and includes illustrations to help better explain the text. One illustration includes a caption that can be discussed as a text feature. At the conclusion of the article, there is a formative assessment in the form of a quiz.

The formative assessment contains a multiple choice question related to vocabulary and several open-ended questions asking for textual evidence in formulating the answers. Additionally, there is a performanced-based assessment question in asking the students to compare and contrast the different Native American tribes in their use of scarecrows and formulating that answer in the form of a Venn Diagram. There is a total of eight questions in relation to the quiz.

The article is sure to engage even the reluctant especially this particular time of the year!

Fall Cinquain Poetry: Awesome Activity for Your Students!

Oh how I love the season fall... and I also LOVE to teach students through poetry! So, I decided to take some beautiful fall scenes and create a packet of poetry for students to create... and publish into a class book upon completion!

Product Description:

Are you working on trying to reinforce nouns, adjectives, facts versus opinion phrases, and synonyms? Is it necessary in your classroom to scaffold instruction in terms of rigor level? If so, this packet is for you and your classroom. This packet contains ten absolutely gorgeous fall scenes from which students can create cinquains. After each fall scene is cinquain pattern one, two, or three. Pattern one tends to be less difficult, patten two follows a parts of speech pattern, while pattern three focuses on syllables. Well, we are halfway through the week and it has gone too fast! I hope all is well with you all this evening. This evening I have made some cue cards that students can keep at their desks for the teacher to easily monitor when students are having difficulty. Please see the product description below.

The Greedy Triangle ~~ Literature Study!

Happy Thursday! Solving Math Word Problems!

Good Afternoon All,

I took the day off and strolled on out to Canton! WOW! I loved it but was ready to come home at 12:30 so I decided I should work on a few things. As we all know, children have trouble in solving math reading word problems... this has always been an issue and concern with most math teachers. Students all need keys words to reference to give them an idea of what operation they should pursue... in doing so, I have designed some mini-posters to help with this concern... Okay... Last Post for the Day! I Couldn't Resist! WHO DAT NATION!

Well good evening for the last time today LOL,

As the New Orleans Saints were playing this evening, I thought well everyone loves Drew Brees especially kids. Drew sports his Drew Brees Saints jersey and I even caught him looking asking me what I was doing. So... I created an informational text article using Drew Brees as the focus! Your students will love it!

Product Description:

Your students will absolutely love this short passage of nonfiction informtional text about none other than the highly decorated Drew Brees-- the New Orleans Saints quarterback. The article begins with information regarding Drew as a child and and gives information about his early life and one sibling. It continues to progress into his high school and college days and culminates with his career in the NFL. At the conclusion of the four page article, complete with illustrations that enhance some of the text, there is a six question formative assessment quiz. The quiz has four multiple choice questions and three open-ended questions asking the student to cite evidence from the text and defend his/her answer. My sister shared with me an E-Book that she and some of her students designed for The Greedy Triangle so I thought I might share it with you all! It is the most colorful E-Book I have ever seen constructed so I know that your students will delight and engage with this text immediately! I hope you enjoy!

Well, today is October 1st! Wow, I love October... when it begins to cool down and football, fairs, and  lots of cool activities are abound. Tonight, I have created a word bank to students to use in their Writer's Notebook for the month of October!
