And the ideas just keep coming...

In this Information Age and the millienial generation, what do kids need to view writing as important enough to become good at it... Really great at it?? What is your classroom action plan for how you will immerse students into writing given the CCSS standards. What are avenues that schools will pursue to bring EVERY teacher on board as a teacher of writing? I received lots of great ideas today and several things that I feel need to be in every teacher's had in regards to writing instruction-- what are some of your ideas? What are your long term plans for the year? In looking at PARCC and the standards, have you committed to teaching writing, in some aspect, everyday? Give me your thoughts and ideas... Now, on to some real-world learning and experiences this evening ... A cruise on the Mississippi River and Lake Minnetonka! I'm leaving (Minnesota) on a jet plane... Don't know when I'll be back again! Until then...

Students must refine their writing skills for higher education, competitiveness in the workforce, and plain, simple everyday life! What are you finding that "stumps" your students about writing? What sorts of writing experiences will you do with your students the first day of school? Thank you to Jennifer Bryne for sharing the many, many ideas at the academy!

Wow! It starts here today-- this evening! NOW! So, where do I begin? I graduated in 1999 from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Philosophy of Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with a double minor in administration and statistics. Soon thereafter, I became a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of middle childhood. I have served as a classroom teacher, a lead teacher, an assistant principal, a principal, and a director of several program at the district level. After retiring from a wonderful, public school system, I am now serving as a school principal again for the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. I have taught adjunct methodology courses for quite some time and have provided all sorts of educational consulting across the southern region of the United States; however, near and dear to my heart is that of publishing curriculum and teaching resources! I could do this all day every day... it is exciting to try to get my materials out there so that others might benefit either through training materials for professional learning communities, lesson plans for instruction, or complete teaching units! Please share my blog with all of your fellow educators! Please allow me to be a resource to you in your teaching and/or administrative career!
