Teacher Recognition Makes the Best Holiday Gift!

Nominating a teacher or school employee as a LifeChanger of the Year is a unique holiday gift that acknowledges their hard work and will make them feel special. It also provides the opportunity to win a cash award to be shared with their school.
LifeChanger of the Year is an annual program, sponsored by the National Life Group Foundation that honors K-12 public and private school educators and employees from around the country who are making a difference in the lives of students by exemplifying excellence, positive influence and leadership.
Nominating someone is easy to do. There is no cost and anyone—including parents, administrators, school colleagues, students (with approval from an adult), and other members of the community—can nominate any full-time K-12 public or private school employee.
Additional details are included in the LifeChanger of the Year Holiday Campaign press release.

Where Shall We Buy Our Christmas Lights?

Good Evening,

I have been thoroughly enjoying my Thanksgiving holiday at the beach house-- isn't great to just be able to relax and enjoy life! While here, I have enjoyed just getting to create a resource that I hope will be able to help you all during these next three weeks work on opinion/persuasive writing with your students! Check out this resource and let me know what you think?

Product DescriptionYou surely do not want to miss this resource! This packet is 32 pages long and focuses on argumentative/persuasive writing. The students conduct research on the different types of Christmas lights and how to “elegantly” decorate their tree using the appropriate lights. After conducting research and reading articles which are provided including the source, the students develop a “hook” statement that will allow the readers to want to read more to determine the best decision to make in terms of buying and decorating with the proper Christmas lights. Next, after developing the “hook” statement, students utilize a graphic organizer that is provided, and develop their claim and actually state it. The next part of the graphic organizer allows the students to state three reasons why their claims is the best decision to make. As well, after stating and writing each particular reason, there is also a space on the graphic organizer for students to write their evidence in the form of a sentence that supports their specific reason for the claim. Finally, at the end of the graphic organizer, the students are to provide a concluding sentence for their claim. Students will enjoy this particular activity so much during the holiday season; you can’t go wrong with this teaching and learning activity!

November: National Picture Book Month.... Post Copied from www.picturebookmonth.com

Good Morning Everyone!

Check this out... worth your time...

Literacy Activity
Nov 13 ~ Numbers
Picture books aid students in visualizing mathematics within a narrative context. (from the Picture Book Month Teacher’s Guide: Why Picture Book Belong in Our Classrooms by Marcie Colleen, 2013).
Did you ever think of a number as being an important part of a story? Take the three little pigs, as an example. How would the story be different if there were six pigs? Or only two? Or what if Snow White stumbled upon a house of twenty dwarves? Change up the numbers in your favorite stories and see how it all adds up to creative writing fun!
